I am thinking of coming to church but.......

Are you new to Church?
We understand it can be daunting if you’ve never been to church before – or if it’s been a while. To make it easier, we hope that this page will give you some idea of what to expect if you come to a service.

What style of services do you have?

We try to cater for the broad nature of the Church of England. Every Sunday there is a 'traditional service' at 9:00 at one of the churches. At 10:30 each Sunday os 'Family Communion' which is less formal and we are delighted to see young people especially if they are noisy or running around. God put the energy in children and we shouldn't try to stop it in His house.

Each Sunday evening is an alternative service ranging from lively- Joyful Journey to peaceful - Taizé to traditional evensong. Check out the what's on page to find out when each service is due to take place.

Where is the Church?
There are 5 Churcheds in our Benefice. We all work together as one big worshipping community. Below are the postcodes and the 'what three words' for each of the churches

Etton  - PE6 7DA  ///confining.stones.retrial

Maxey - PE6 9HF ///dampen.corrode.prettiest

Glinton - PE6 7JN ///behave.zaps.tribune

Peakirk - PE6 7NH ///engulfing.ruins.executive

Northborough - PE6 9BN ///comic.play.cools

What happens when I get there?
As you arrive, a member of the congregation will greet you at the door and will be happy to point you in the right direction. We hope that you will feel warmly welcomed. The service will normally follow a printed booklet and consists of singing hymns, Bible reading(s), some prayers and a sermon (about 10 minutes) that aims to explain and apply what the Bible says to our everyday lives. Communion services will give the opportunity for most people to receive the Bread and Wine (though there is no need to do so).

Please sit wherever you like – there are not any reserved seats.

After some services there is a chance for a cuppa. Please feel free to stay around and enjoy tea, coffee or a cold drink and have a chat to other folk.

Will I be asked to give money?
We have a collection plate  but there is no obligation to give. If you wish to do so we would be grateful but most people who do give do so using online giving.

What about the Loo?
There is a toilet in Glinton Church and an outside loo at Maxey. Sorry but the others don't yet have this facility.

What’s being a Christian all about?
It’s a journey in fellowship with the Church in relationship with God through faith in his Son, Jesus Christ, who died that we might live. None of us fully understand the mysteries of faith but we find the structure of church helps us with our wobbly and not-all-together lives.

We hope this helps to explain something of what this church is like. Please do come along, we’d love to see you! If you are still nervous after reading this, please contact us and we will arrange for someone to meet you and show you around.
